Every year we goto to Chicago botanic garden on Mother’s Day to see a beautiful array of tulips and other spring flowers because they are typically timed by the gardens to be in full bloom that weekend and they are stunning.
The tulips we expected but it was pure serendipity to find the Japanese garden in bloom as well. This tends to happen slightly later in the season and we had never seen it before. The gardens are beautiful on their own but on this day they were awash with brilliant color. There is always some luck involved with flower spotting but I think even more so with leaf peeping… every year is slightly different and you’re lucky if it’s not raining. Still I think the unpredictability is a key part of the fun.
Lovely! Those tulips that look like peppermints are my favorite.
